Lent Day Thirty Five

Day Thirty Five-The Borrowed Tomb

Brothers and Sisters today's message is a bit late due to many things that crossed my path this day, one of them being as a golf cart driver for Tater Day. As I witnessed my first Tater Day, I truly saw volunteerism in action, and I truly understood that this event could never have taken place without the small and large roles of many. Tater Day takes so many parts and nuances of many volunteers to become the reality that all hope it will be. As we go through this day thirty five of Lent, we will see the small actions of two men, that helped the fulfillment of Christ's promises to become reality.

After Christ was crucified, a man by the name of Joseph gave his own tomb for Jesus to be placed in. Even though Joseph was a member of the Jewish Council, we must consider him to be a closet disciple. The same can be said for Nicodemus, who came to speak with Jesus the night that he was betrayed. Even though they were members of the council that voted to have Jesus crucified, we know that Nicodemus spoke out in defense of Jesus. In the end both these men knew that the only thing that they could do was to remove Christ from the cross and place him in the tomb. As these two men acted in what they believed to be a small way, little did they know the essential roles that they would play in making the prophecies of Christ come to fruition.

Recently many people got together at our church to do the work to prepare the church for Easter. As we all know, Easter will be here whether the church is prepared or not, but the actions of a few prepared God's house in a way that the highest emphasis was placed in sharing the promise fulfilled on Easter. This day I ask that you do some small act of volunteerism that links you to the fulfillment of the promise of the Resurrection.

In God a little means much.
