New Days New Opportunities.

Lamentations 3:22-23

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

As I sit here in my home office, it is very early in the morning. I have just arrived home after taking my son into work. Knowing that any possibility of further sleep is a forgone conclusion I have begun my work day with a cup of good coffee and new and fresh ideas.

Recently our community here in Kentucky has undergone much strife, much stress, and way too much attention from the media and the world outside of our small community. As I sit here the following morning after the conclusion of this event, I focus on new things, even if it is only the fresh cup of Pumpkin Spiced Coffee that is wafting into my senses as I type this.

The passage from Lamentations speaks about new opportunities for God’s tender mercies to shower over his created world as well as his created people. We arise this morning under the circling earth of a new day and new opportunities to show mercy, kindness, and love.

What new opportunities will God have for you today? How will you manifest those new opportunities into love, kindness, compassion, and yes, may I say “forgiveness”?

I stare out my home office window at a beautiful pink sunrise that is rising over the trees behind my house and truly understand the nature of God’s many chances that were provided to us by Jesus on the cross and Jesus of the empty tomb. I conclude this message with a poem

 New Opportunity by Siddic Nagdee:

Come what may with each new day, a blossom in the light of the sun. Remembrance of yester-days a gone
Look today to leap a handsome one The divergence of literacy just re-born, worries to thrust aside in time,
knowledge to set the past apart, in mind to start a new day sublime.

What holds the beauty of this new day? Is it as the pass-off of yesterday? Or with some leisure of new ambition,
to forward and glide on life's new way.

Opportunity but knocks once a time, so the old sayings of the wise. Grabbing a new day all in smiling, makes each day something to realize. So grab up this chance with open arms, don’t forget to share some deeds. With that of much from Him above in guidance given to you as your needs.

Relentlessly share it with much of love, the pleasure in the dawn of a new day. A day entrenched in endless occasion, with smiles in inspiration leading the way.

This is the New Day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
