Or
And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and
the spirit returns to God who gave it.
This morning on the way
to church I happened to see a cloud of turkey vultures picking at the carcass
of a dead dear, and it made think about our expectations upon our own earthly
deaths?
As we journey through
this season of Lent, as we approach Holy Week next week, we will witness a
death like no other death since. We will witness the betrayal, arrest, crucifixion,
and death of Jesus Christ.
We will see his body be
tortured, beaten, and nailed to a cross. We will see a spear stuck in his side
to see if he is dead. But, we will also witness his resurrection three days
later in the form of an empty tomb, and his returning to his disciples.
The Crucifixion and the
Resurrection of Christ was Christ’s way of reconciling our sins with His Father
as to give us the hope and the promise that even though we will die an earthly
death, that death is not the end. Because of Christ’s actions and God’s
promise, we will be resurrected just as Christ was, and our souls will go to be
with God until Christ returns. Upon Christ’s second coming our souls and bodies
shall be reunited in a new heaven and new earth.
My prayer for us all
today is that we focus on giving our lives to Jesus Christ and that we prepare
ourselves and our souls for a heavenly arrival. What a fear it would be to only
believe that we will be like the deer one day, in which the Turkey Vultures
will be picking at our decaying flesh.
For those that are
followers of Christ, death has no sting and the vultures will have no bite,
because everything that we are and who we will ever be will be residing with
our Heavenly Father in heaven. The choice is ours, the choice is yours, the
rotting flesh of eternal damnation, or the eternal glory of heaven. What does
your view of heaven look like and what choice will you make? Jesus is waiting
and wanting to be in relationship with you today.
If you are wanting to
know Jesus, if you are wanting a personal relationship with him today. If you
are wanting a heavenly eternity, please pray this pray with me today.
SALVATION PRAYER
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I
acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life
that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.
I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His
precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now
willing to turn from my sin.
You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the
Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we
shall be saved.
Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I
believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus
Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am
saved.
Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from
my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather
it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I
may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.
Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. AMEN.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it.
Rejoice and be saved in it!
